Everyone who knows me knows that Halloween is my favourite day of the year! I have always had an obsession with Halloween or anything spooky. This means that the fact Lush launches their Halloween/Autumn range tomorrow (23/09/16) that I will be waiting outside the shop so I can get my hands on some of the spooktacular goodies! They also launch the Christmas range on the 1st October but I will do a separate post covering all things lush & Christmas.

So what can you expect from the Halloween range?

Pink hair

You may or may not have noticed that I decided on a tiny bit of a hair change. I am an absolute nightmare for changing my hair, it has been long, it has been short, I've had it white, grey, blonde with pink and black, lilac, bright red and even a deep purple! I'm sure I've forgotten to throw in some other colours to that list.

My hair obsession started pretty young! I then went on to work in a salon when I had just turned 15 and remained in salons for just over 2 years. This meant being used regularly as a model when stylists were continuing to develop their skills or even just being a guinea pig on quieter days to try out new looks and colours. I absolutely loved it! I still have a passion for hair 10 years on from my first day of working in a salon!

This passion soon leads to me getting creative, especially when I am bored. Off I popped to salon services with Sophia and my Mum in tow.  All I knew was that I wanted something bright and different. I got talking to the sales assistant and she mentioned some pastel colours  they had in stock, out came the colour chart and I was hooked. For the first time ever I used Ion semi-permanent pastels along with the Ion Peroxide Pastel Creme Developer 3% 10Vol. I pre-lightened my hair, my hair tends to lighten to a pretty white colour no matter what I am trying to lift out of my hair. I then mixed my pastel colour using a 1:1 ratio, working from root to tip covering my hair and left the dye on for 15 minutes although you can leave it on for less time to achieve a more pastel look.

My only warning for anyone who hasn't used colours similar to these is that they fade pretty quickly! Don't expect them to stay vibrant for long. I sometimes add some colour into my conditioner to boost the colour once a week. Also when your looking on things like pinterest alot of the times the colours are photoshopped or the photo has been taken right after leaving a salon. The lighting of wherever they have snapped that photo can make a huge difference too as you can see in my photos above! Overall I loved this hair dye, it was simple to use, it didnt turn my bathroom pink (been there done that before) and it does exactly as it says on the tin... or the box if you want to be picky.

Life

Hi everyone hope you are all well! First off can I just say thank you for visiting my blog, I am so grateful for every single view and I've become slightly obsessed with checking out where my viewers are in the world. Some of you have even started to check out my Instagram and even adding me on Snapchat which I just love.

I have had loads on recently, I've had to take sometime off work due to childcare issues which for any mother is a nightmare but hey these things happen! I decided not to let the situation stress me out but instead I am enjoying the extra time with Sophia... and enjoying the couple of hours she's in nursery for! Life with Sophia consists of being forced awake and I mean she actually pulls my eyelids open so I wake up stunned, her refusing breakfast because she wants outside naked with only her light up boots on so she can go on her bike. Eventually she gives up, we play then get ready for nursery where she then toddles off with not a second thought for me!

I then have 3 hours for myself! Now I always thought this would be "me time" but nope. I'm either in Tesco, cleaning the house or doing laundry! It's bliss when those couple of hours I can work on a makeup look for my blog or work on a post. Admittedly recent makeup looks I've been doing I've not loved so haven't posted. Like I said in a previous post I'm not a professional I just play around so it's very much trial & error!

I have also been looking to get back into loosing weight. Another thing I've noticed that yoyo's now i'm a mother. After having Sophia I lost nearly 4 stone!!! But I've put it all back on through my own greediness. My fitness had improved so much and that is now non existent. I'm sure once I am back on track my motivation will slowly reappear.

Well there you have it!
My life from my mummy side. Full of highs & lows but proving to be one hell of a journey!

Instagram Talent

I love looking around on Instagram getting inspiration for blog posts, makeup look ideas and just checking out other peoples talent. I love the fact it's so easy to be able to share and see other peoples work. After putting Sophia to bed I was having my usual scroll through Instagram and came across two pages that really caught my eye and inspired me.

The first was a girl called cheyenne.rijken, she is 16 years young and an aspiring makeup artist, I loved her looks so just had to share some with my readers!

The second page I came across is a girl called molly_cristin on Instagram. Her work had been shared by another page so I hunted down the original page and she had tonnes of photos of amazing makeup looks she has done! Anyone who has "enjoys long walks down the makeup aisle" as their bio is worth keeping an eye on in my opinion,

I spy with my little eye

Hi everyone, I still can't get over the fact it's September already! I think Summer is coming to an end in Aberdeen, we had two roasting hot days and now it's miserable & grey... Just like we are used to. I don't let the thought of a Scottish winter fill me with dread or panic and consider hibernation, instead I get excited about all things Autumn/Winter and cold related. The clothes, the shoes, the makeup and even the accessories! With London Fashion Week coming up on 16th September I am excited to see what looks pop up.

For now I have been making do with online shopping & browsing. This has included stalking Jouer Cosmetics owner Christina on Snapchat whilst she was in London releasing her new Fall colours in Paris! Snapchat was full of swatches and sneak peaks, some I have shared on my Instagram! It also resulted in my ordering two matte lip cremes! Then I accidentally ordered myself a new mascara from Sigma! Secondly I have been eyeing up some new handbags, much to my partner Bruce's delight! So far no purchases but I have fallen in love with the ones in the photo down below!

Purple eyes

Today I decided to try experimenting with colour. I don't think I've ever worn purple on my eyes before so this is a first attempt! I think I was pretty happy with the result!

Sunday before & after!

To all the teenagers out there, anyone who has blemishes, insecurities and to those who have no idea what to do with makeup this is for you! This morning I was having a day where I felt I looked horrible, I have never been 100% happy with how I look makeup less, between breakouts and scarring mixed with an uneven skin tone my skin can drive me crazy. I started wearing makeup from a pretty young age, trying to figure out how to conceal those pesky blemishes. When I see photos from when I was younger and had no idea what I was doing I cringe!!! Slowly but surely I started to figure out how to work with my skin & features, but even to this day I can have some woops moments and have to start again. That's ok, there isn't a one look suites all, a one product that works for everyone and it can take time to figure out what does work & what doesn't work. I was always told that I would need "expensive" products to achieve my desired look! Yet to this day I use a mix of products.

Just be yourself, go for it and embrace the cringe worthy old photos! Everybody has a stash of them tucked away somewhere. X

Eyes Like Angels

A few days ago I went on a bit of a makeup shopping binge, It resulted in me buying like 4 or 5 new eye shadow palettes, a contour palette and other bits and pieces. I had managed to hide them pretty well from my partner until my daughter came toddling through saying "uh oh mumma" whilst holding them all and proudly showing them to her dad! Everything I bought that day was from either boots or super drug. I feel that sometimes the brands available in these stores can get forgotten about when it comes to blogs, but lets face it, not everyone can cough up the money some higher end brands want for their palettes.

Let me introduce you to the Makeup Revolution Ultra 32 Shade Eye shadow Palette - Eyes Like Angels which cost me only £8.00 from Superdrug. This palette has a fantastic mix of colors, they are pretty pigmented too and blend well. I tend to go for the typical smokey eye palette or the neutrals but decided to inject my makeup collection with some colour and this 100% delivers on the colour front.

01/09/16 shopping haul

01/09/16

So today I went shopping for some things for my DIY frames I am going to attempt to make for above my bed. I got all of that stuff but also found myself nipping into Outfit in Union Square, No idea how I got there all I know is I picked up a couple of pieces and then went on my merry way! May I add I was also childless, for those of you who don't have children yet, shopping child free is amazing. Doesn't matter if its your local shop, Tesco or clothes shopping, It's you time and its fabulous! I am so excited for the Autumn/Winter lines coming into stores. Summer wardrobes do me no favours, I look daft in floral prints, having a child has left my body in no way suitable for cropped tops, backless items and outfits with bits cut out here and there. Does anyone else have this issue!? I can't be the only person!

So imagine my delight when I see the window display has been updates, I see boots in the far distance and even the hint of some coats. Que me walking straight past all the sale items and into heaven.
