Nu Skin Epoch Glacial Marine Mud Review

Since I was about 11 years old my skin has forever been breaking out, I've tried and tested so many products, been to dermatologists and even given microdermabrasion a try. I'm sure we all know or have at least been told that diet plays a huge part in how your skin can look too. Well let's just say I've gone to town on the fizzy drinks and over indulged far too much. It's time to get this under control!

I came across Nu Skin on Facebook, seen all the reviews and before & after photos and heard all the amazing stories. Eventually I decided to try out the Epoch Glacial Marine Mud. What did I think? Well first things first, make sure you shake your bottle before opening and also be careful when you do open it. Mines exploded all over my bathroom coating my lovely cream walls in marine mud so my relaxing time turned to crazy time pretty quickly. Cleaning done, deep breaths and I was ready to enter relaxation mode again.

I applied this to cleansed skin and the mud literally glides on, it's not like other masks which can be thicker and you feel like your slapping cement mix on your face, it's quick and easy to apply. I didn't notice any scent either and some mud masks have made me feel a little queasy with the smell. As expected with a mud mask it goes on a dark green and dries to a pale green and of course it hardens so good bye facial expressions for the next 15/20 minutes. After having my feet up it was time to rinse this mask off. Another gold star for this product is that it wipes off fairly easy, just some wet cotton wool was needed, other masks I've used I have felt like I have needed to scrub off and I usually wake up in the morning and find huge parts of my face I have missed! My skin felt softer, tighter and much cleaner! I cannot wait to continue using this product weekly and only time will tell if I will get good results but I can say I'm pretty certain I will see some positive results!

Tried & Tested : Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless

After hearing great things I decided to purchase Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless from Superdrug. I usually use Mac foundations although sometimes I will use Bare Minerals, but I tend to always find my way back to Mac Studio Fix. Now not only am I whiter than white to the point I can just walk in and take any foundation in the palest shade (sometimes the palest foundations can still be too dark) I am also blessed with amazing skin that likes to breakout! Usually in my chin area but recently also on my cheek bone area... Told you I am blessed! I read some reviews that said this foundation was full coverage, it's pretty good coverage but I still had to touch up with concealer. It blended pretty easy, felt super light weight and after having it on for a few hours I didn't need to re powder. Also I find with some cheaper foundations that they slide off my face and it can go pretty patchy but not this! It stayed on & the coverage was even all across my face! I did use this with Urban Decays, All Nighter setting spray so no touch ups were needed. I would say for paying £5.99 this foundation is pretty good, I may keep it for popping on before doing the nursery run so I don't scare all the parents and children by going bare faced.

Price : 10/10 - £5.99 for foundation is not much at all!
Coverage: 8/10 - Some redness from my cheeks still needed to be touched up and my blemishes needed a fair bit of concealer.
Quality: 9/10 - The quality of this is fantastic considering what you pay, I've used higher priced foundations that aren't half as good as this!

Happy birthday mini me!

I can't believe Sophia has turned 3! She is growing up so quickly and makes me so proud every day, even the days she has a diva strop over everything. What have I learnt in 3 years?

  1. It's ok to be lazy, can't be bothered getting out of those pjs? Own those pjs and enjoy every comfortable minute in them.
  2. Need a breather? Take one! Even if it's locking yourself in the bathroom for 5 minutes, it's good for your sanity!
  3. Child free day? I always think I am going to do amazing things on child free days... Usually I sneak back into bed or binge on daytime television. Do what you want to do!
  4. Baby groups... I remember my health visitor handing me all these leaflets full of information on different groups I could take my squishy little newborn to. Did I feel like socialising? No! Did I want my socialising opportunities to be baby free? Yes! It's ok to do things that don't revolve around baby talk.
  5. Want wine? Want junk food? Still carrying some extra weight? This can be a tough time in life, enjoy that guilty pleasure once in a while.
  6. Toddler tantrums. They happen everywhere. The supermarket seems to be a favourite location choice for the little people in your life. Those child free people just wondering around without a care in the world who shoot you a judgey look... Karma will get them one day.
  7. Stop comparing your child to others. They are an individual and will develop at different rates. Sophia can still only speak a few words and that's ok! I can tell she's healthy and happy. We are working on it and things won't happen over night!
  8. Some days you will feel like all you have said is the word no. No don't eat that, no don't touch that, no don't do that. Then sometimes you feel bad like all you have done is tell your child off. Don't let it beat you up.  Mini you still loves you!
  9. Child running around naked? Crazy hair? Dirty face? This is normal. Life doesn't look like those Instagram accounts that show children perfectly accessorised and all perfect in a matching outfit.
  10. Enjoy the experience, had a tough day? Let go of the negative and remind yourself about the positives.

Dress shopping... I am doomed

Well as the title suggests, I am dress shopping. Now I love to shop but as soon as its for something in particular it becomes stressful! Anyone else? Just me? Bruce and I will be travelling to Glasgow in October and attending his cousins wedding. I have been looking for an outfit since the invitation dropped through our letter box. Can I find one? Can I heck! It seems to be an option of beach cover ups, crazy frilly metallic dresses or dresses with splits from my feet up to my cleavage. I am all for people experimenting with fashion and everyone being different but I just want a nice dress suitable for a wedding. No doubt the day after the wedding I will hit the shops and see 100's of dresses and outfits I would have loved to wear!

Sophia's shopping haul

I had all of the summer holidays off to spend with Sophia before she started nursery, that was over 6 weeks of bliss, shopping trips, lazy days at home and day trips & activities with my mini diva. These are my favorite purchases/gifts of the summer.

Lush buys

Hands up who loves Lush? No matter where I am shopping I can't resist visiting Lush. That smell when you walk into the store, testing the products and demonstrations of the bath bombs are just brilliant. From the toners & masks to the charity pots & bubble bars I love everything, This week I treated myself to three things I've never tried before.

Lava Lamp Bath Bomb - £4.25

This little bath treat is everything I hoped it would be, The colours were bright and the purple stayed separated exactly like a lava lamp. Made with cocoa butter, Sicilian mandarin, tangerine and orange flower, Lush say this bath bomb smells like fruit pastilles and I have to say I agree. You can also see a video of it in action on the lush website!

I was looking for a massage bar that both Bruce and myself could use. This meant looking for something that wasn't overly "girly" smelling. Let me introduce you to the Therapy massage bar! 100% organic and made with cocoa butter, shea butter, lavender oil, neroli oil and sweet wild orange oil. Neroli oil according to the Lush website has been shown to increase serotonin levels (think happy).
This massage bar has a thumbs up from Bruce, Sophia & myself!

Eau Roma Water - £8.50

I've heard loads of good things about this water so I finally made the purchase. With 127 reviews and a 4.6 rating on the lush website I wasn't disappointed. Made with lavender water and rose water and in a spray bottle it comes everywhere with me. Perfect for a quick spray during the day to freshen up and after cleansing my skin. If your skin needs to be hydrated and soothed then this is the product for you!

Whats your fav product from Lush? I would love to hear from you!

My August shopping haul

This month has been pretty hectic, I have helped my sister move into her new place in Glasgow, had so many family birthdays including my daughters birthday on the 25th when Sophia turns three!!! She also started nursery so quite a lot of shopping has happened this month. I will do a separate post for Sophia's goodies she has been purchased for anyone who may be interested in children's things.

Seeing as I have a daughter and also work with children I'm not fussy over what brands I wear, if I like it, it looks good on me then I'm pretty happy. This is dangerous when I am doing a food shop and decide to wonder over to the clothes. This innocent wonder over resulted in two purchases which are perfect for the colder weather in Aberdeen.

F&F RIPPLE KNIT BOXY V-NECK JUMPER
£18.00

F&F MARL TIE FRONT MIDI DRESS
£16.00

I also ordered some pamper goodies online from beauty bay for myself & my mum. I first discovered StarSkin during a trip to Edinburgh. I have used the Red Carpet Ready Hydrating Bio Cellulose Second Skin Face Mask previously and the Magic Hour Exfoliating Double Layer Foot Mask Socks, I loved both of these products so ordered them again. I also ordered Close Up Firming Bio Cellulose Second Skin Face Mask and the Hollywood Hand Model Nourishing Double Layer Technology Hand Mask Gloves for my mum. I'm excited to see what she thinks of the StarSkin range!

One of my last purchases was some new fake tan, I'm not someone who uses tan all the time (I'm too lazy) but I decided to buy UTAN & Tone. I have seen a few other bloggers who are on the paler skin colour side like myself (thank you Scottish genes & weather), This tan has given them a golden colour rather than orange unlike so many other brands on the market does for paler people. I also got a code which meant if I bought their "turbo time controlled lotion" I also got their "medium weekly self tan lotion" for free! Hopefully I will get to try my new tan out soon and I will 100% do a post with my results & opinion!
